Paris Weekend Breaks

American singer Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon garnered some publicity when they renewed their wedding vows last Friday at France's greatest monumental icon, the Eiffel Tower.  The couple married in 2008 in the idyllic setting of the Bahamas and the famous singer has since given birth to twins.

Following a romantic tinged dinner in the lovely Jules Verne restaurant, the couple rededicated themselves in what was described as "an intimate ceremony"  -  one that was well-publicised and lavishly photographed.  Good for them.  Sometimes you need a quite moment.

And with that news, I hasten to say that you can do the same. How romantic it would be to take your dearest companion to the Eiffel Tower for a rededication of your love  -  and if the romance of the event was somehow missing, the meal at the Jules Verne would more than make up for any lingering disappointment.  It would be your choice entirely whether to blast loud on the details to publicise the occasion, or to opt instead for a quiet, intimate gathering with representatives of the world's media in attendance.

I am on your side either way.

To ease the path, you should look at some of our great deals for hotels near the Eiffel Tower.  If that is not enough, here is another fantastic offer to entice you  -

New Orly Airport Hotel Deals

Last Sunday's voting didn't sort the ongoing political arguments and challenges in France, and we will all have to wait for the second round of the Presidential Election vote to find out if President Nicolas Sarkozy can hold on to power or has to give way to his socialist rival Francois Hollande. We are in for some interesting times ahead, particularly if the incumbent Sarkozy loses and we have to all then embrace Hollande's contrasting approach to the current European financial debt crisis.

Let us not be too overwhelmed by all these grave political issues. Instead, moving on to pure escapism, here is our latest promotion from our many Paris hotels deals. This time it is for hotels near Orly Airport -

The Champs-Elysees and the wonderful Elysees Palace

The Champs-Elysees has enduring popularity and acts like a magnet for tourists. It also relates to one of our current promotions for hotels near the Champs Elysees. From one of these fine hotels you can stroll the famous avenue and its surrounding area at your leisure.

You can't miss the wonderful Elysees Palace as you explore. It was built in 1718 and was once home to Napoleon's sister, Caroline. Now it is the official residence of the French President, and unfortunately, it is not open to the public. However, that doesn't stop you from giving an enthusiastic wave in its direction on the chance that President Sarkozy may notice and call you in for tea. Don't be disappointed if this doesn't happen.

For a more certain outcome, you can bet on some good value with our feature offer for hotels in St. Germain.

Pompidou Centre and the Paris Museum Pass

Paris is a city with an amazing variety of museums. One of the principal ones visitors come to see is the avant-garde creation that is the Pompidou Centre. Recently refurbished, it dates frrom the 1970's and has some zany elements such as the escalators that run through transparent tubes and make up one intriguing part of the building's singular facade.

This cultural complex has performance halls, cinemas, shops, restaurants and of course, the major attraction - the National Museum of Modern Arts. Out front on the plaza you can see a plethora of street artists displaying a mix of talents that include musicians, mimes and fire-eaters.

If you intend to visit quite a number of museums, a Paris museum pass known as the Carte Musée et Monuments de Paris can be purchased at tourist offices and museums to allow you the benefit of some savings. These will give free access for adults to the major monuments and museums in and around Paris - about 60 locations in all. It's also a great time saver as the long lines for paid admission to many musums can be frustrating, and you get to skip all that. Options are for 2, 4 or a 6 day pass - a choice to be influenced not only by the time available, but also your levels of endurance. Children under 18 years have free entrance to most museums. For more information check out their offical website here ... the Paris Museum Pass.

For a selection of excellent yet cheap Paris hotels, our first promotion for April is for hotels in Montmartre.
