If you are in Paris at the moment you
will easily sense the intense election fever as we near Sunday's
second round of legislative elections. Opinion polls are showing
that former president Nicholas Sarkozy's conservative UMP party are
set for another drubbing from the electors. They are still reeling
from the recent failure of their presidential campaign, and with the
increasing political uncertainty concerning their future are beginning
to engage in some bitter infighting.
In the opposite camp, President
Francois Hollande's Socialists look optimistically to an outcome that will gain them a complete majority in the National Assembly. If
this happens, the Socialists can eschew coalition with other parties
such as the Greens, and forge ahead unbridled with the implementation
of Hollande's new policies.
This will all be of interest and
concern to the French, but if you are just in the process of planning
your trip to France, it will likely be of no interest to you. All
will be over before you get here and you are unlikely to notice any
difference. Perhaps that's just as well.
Basically, visitors care little about
who is running the country as long as it does not adversely impact
them such as in the form of increased tourism tax. Let's keep it that way then and forget about the future political landscape and focus instead on something of more immediate interest ....... a special hotel promotion to benefit you during your visit here. In fact, there are two specifically - the first for
last minute hotel breaks in Paris and the other and main offer for luxury hotels in Paris.
Hope you enjoy!
