One of our popular features from our
Paris city centre hotels is this post's headline offer for hotels
near the Eiffel Tower. It is among the city's most visited
attractions, and the question is often asked if there is any way
around the long queues that can often taken the enjoyment out of a
visit to the tower.
Well, with a little planning you can
avoid the worst of it - but it does require a bit of strategy.
First off, you need to make an early start; something that makes good
sense anyhow if you are to get the most out of your day in Paris.
What many people don't know is that you can purchase pre-paid tickets
online. These tickets are for the elevator only and so you must pass
on the option to use the stairs. But you also pass on the waiting
crowds, and that is the good part. All you need to do is print your
tickets at home, and make sure to arrive just before the 9.00 am
start. This will see you making a lofty ascent while the terrain
snaking lines of people wonder how long is it going to take to even
reach the ticket desk.
Another option - this time using the
stairs - is to queue for the south pillar or Pilier Sud entrance.
This is a quicker and a shorter line. Not as quick, mind you, as
buying an online ticket, but still reasonable and bearable in terms
of wait-time. Again, you need to be there and in the queue before
the 9.00 am opening. In all honesty, it's worth it ....... and for a
little effort you save time in the long run.
You will see some incredible panoramic
vistas of the city as you ascend the tower. You may also be able to
see your hotel, and to make sure you do here is the offer -
